Orlando Wrongful Death Lawyers Question Traffic Fatality Statistics - Friday, July 25, 2008

According to some, rising gas prices has had the recent positive effect of reducing traffic deaths nationwide. The National Safety Council reports a 9% reduction in traffic fatalities so far in 2008 as compared to 2007. The Associated Press claims some states have reported drops of 20% in motor vehicle deaths and that 31 states have reported at least a 10% decline in traffic accident deaths. Preliminary figures show the death rate in Florida has dropped 11%. But at CGWC, we think it seems hard to believe those statistics. This week alone, there have been four deaths from motor vehicle accidents in Orange County alone in the past 48 hours. So, don't let your guard down. Remain vigilant and attentive, and drive defensively. High gas prices may be keeping people off the roads to some degree, but Central Florida's streets and highways remain the biggest risk to your daily safety.
