Defective Consumer Products All Too Common - Saturday, October 17, 2009

Defective products are recalled from the market almost every week. All too often, simple consumer products we take for granted are accidents waiting to happen due to poor manufacturing methods, negligent design, careless quality control, and poor inspections. Just recently, the Consumer Products Safety Commission recalled an office chair sold to countless unsuspecting customers of Office Depot. Here at The Florida Firm, we have handled two defective office chair cases in just the past few years. Both accidents were caused by product failures such as seat bracket or other materials failure. Both products were manufactured in China and imported for sale in American stores. Both accidents involved serious injuries like spine injuries and traumatic brain injuries resulting in surgery, decreased mobility, memory loss, loss, decreased cognitive functioning, and hearing loss.
