The Florida Senate has taken up a controversial bill seeking to immunize emergency room physicians from lawsuits. This new bill would protect doctors in emergency rooms from lawsuits arising from simple mistakes to outright gross negligence. Damages would be capped at $ 200,000 no matter what the injury and taxpayers would have to foot the bill to defend any emergency room doctor sued for a mistake or even gross negligence in providing emergency room care.
