Nursing home residents in Florida have legal rights guaranteed by Florida law. Some of these rights include the right to adequate and appropriate health care, as well as adequate and appropriate support services, like assistance with activities of daily living like eating, getting dressed, and being active. When these rights are violated, nursing home residents can be injured or worse.

Drug Makers' Studies Fraudulent - Sunday, March 28, 2010

A top researcher for drug makers like Merck and Pfizer, Dr. Scott Reuben, has admitted to faking studies on their medicines.

In some Celebrex studies, there weren't even any patients enrolled in the supposed studies. Unfortunately, fraudulent research has become business as usual in the world of the big drug makers. The result? Dangerous drugs enter the market so these drug makers can cash in, without proper testing and without proper warnings and labeling for patients and their physicians.

The Florida Legislature is now reviewing a bill which would ban texting while driving. Drivers would have to put away their cell phones, blackberries and iPhones while driving if the bill is approved. If the bill is approved, it will go into effect in October 2010.

Experienced Truck Accident Attorneys -

If you're involved in an accident with a tractor trailer, you need an experienced truck accident attorney. Truck accidents are not "run of the mill" automobile accident cases in the legal world. Truck accident cases are far more complicated than an auto on auto accident case.

In addition to the rules of the road that generally apply to all drivers, truck drivers are subject to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA). The purpose of those regulations is to impose uniform standards of travel on interstate truckers, no matter where they are, to promote safety and prevent truck collisions. These regulations are voluminous and comprehensive and require trucking companies to maintain records that the drivers have complied with them, such as records demonstrating that the trucker has not violated the "hours of service" limitations which is designed to prevent accidents due to trucker fatigue.

Many people are injured or killed on streets and highways when trucking companies and truck drivers don't follow the FMCSR. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says 380,000 large trucks were involved in traffic crashes in 2008. Over 4000 of those accidents involved deaths. Overall, 11 percent of all traffic deaths in 2008 were the result of truck accidents.

If you or a loved one is involved in an accident with a large truck, you need an experienced truck accident attorney immediately, so that the attorney can make sure the trucker doesn't destroy valuable evidence, such as records showing a violation of the FMCSR. Don't wait. Hire an experienced truck accident attorney as soon after the truck accident as possible.

4 Killed When Truck Hits Motorcycles On CR 476 - Sunday, March 14, 2010

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, four people were killed when a truck hit a group of motorcycles On County Road 476 near Bushnell.

Three of four motorcyclists and one of their passengers were dead at the scene. This is another example of how vulnerable motorcyclists can be in crashes with automobiles or trucks. Motorcyclists have different rights from operators of automobiles and trucks, so they need experienced attorneys who are knowledgeable about the legal rights of bikers when involved in an accident.

Highway Deaths Hit Record Lows -

According to officials, highway deaths have hit levels not seen since the 1950's. This is a very good thing and the credit is due to a variety of factors including safety features in cars, more people wearing seatbelts due to safety education efforts, and the downturn in the economy which is keeping folks at home and off roads and streets.

Nonetheless there are still too many people dying in automobile accidents and truck accidents, and people need to keep their eyes on the road and their hands on their steering wheels to keep each other safe. It is a betrayal of trust to violate the rules of the road. Have you ever thought about that? Each time you take to the highways, your are putting your trust in the other drivers you encounter...that they will observe traffic laws, obey traffic signs and signals, and pay attention to what they're doing.

If you or a family member is hurt in a car crash, you will need an experienced automobile accident attorney to navigate the legal system and assure your family's financial future and health is kept intact. CGWC attorneys are experienced in representing victims of motor vehicle accidents and CGWC offers free consultations regarding your personal injury claims. One call does it all.

Florida Senate Seeks To Protect ER Doctors Even If They Are Grossly Negligent - Thursday, March 04, 2010

The Florida Senate has taken up a controversial bill seeking to immunize emergency room physicians from lawsuits. This new bill would protect doctors in emergency rooms from lawsuits arising from simple mistakes to outright gross negligence. Damages would be capped at $ 200,000 no matter what the injury and taxpayers would have to foot the bill to defend any emergency room doctor sued for a mistake or even gross negligence in providing emergency room care.

Remove accountability, and remove the incentive to do a good job for people. No matter what the profession. Contact your senator and tell them to vote against this bill that gives special rights to emergency room doctors and leaves taxpayers footing the bill for reckless medical care.
