Happy Memorial Day!

Representing Orlando, the Four Corners, Tampa and Nearby Areas of Florida

Memorial Day in the United States began in honor of the Union and Confederate soldiers who died during the American Civil War, and it was originally called Decoration Day.  The first Decoration Day was in 1868.  By the late 1800s it had become known as Memorial Day and over time the reason for the celebration had expanded to include veterans killed in action in all wars fought by American soldiers.  The public holiday was intended to unify the country in a national day of remembrance.  Memorial Day became a federal holiday in 1971.

Enjoy Memorial Day 2014 by spending time with your family and friends, but don’t forget to remember the fallen heroes who gave their lives to assure your family’s freedom to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  God bless America’s fallen heroes and God bless all U.S. veterans.  And remember, as famed attorney Clarence Darrow said, “True patriotism hates injustice in its own land more than anywhere else.”  After all, it is justice that we are always fighting and struggling to achieve as a nation.
