Nathan Carter Testifies Against a Bill Limiting the Rights of Florida Nursing Home Abuse Victims
On April 1st and 2nd, Colling Gilbert Wright partner Nathan Carter testified before the Florida Senate Judiciary Committee. Mr. Carter spoke on behalf of the Florida Justice Association opposing a bill that would limit the rights of nursing home abuse victims throughout Florida.
The nursing home industry is strongly supporting this bill, which seeks to place additional restrictions on the ability to seek punitive damages in nursing home abuse cases. Mr. Carter faced tough questioning from some of the Senators, and he clearly explained how if this bill passes, it will make it even more difficult for these vulnerable elderly citizens to receive the justice they deserve when they receive subpar care.
For nearly 20 years, Mr. Carter has fought tirelessly for the rights of nursing home abuse victims. He has witnessed firsthand the devastation caused when the corporations that run nursing homes place profits over patient care. Simply put, this is unacceptable, and these corporations must be held accountable for their actions.
The attorneys at Colling Gilbert Wright will do everything in our power to raise awareness for dangers of nursing home abuse and neglect, and we will continue to oppose bills such as this one which limit the rights of victims.
