New Trucking Law Increases Dangers

Representing Orlando, Tampa, Miami and Nearby Areas of Florida

A new law enacted by the Florida Legislature this year is likely to make roads more dangerous for Floridians on major highways used by big rig truckers. The State of Florida now permits the Florida Department of Transportation too issue permits to trucks weighing 88,000 pounds, a 10 percent increase over the previous size limit. These heavier trucks are likely to make Florida roads more dangerous. In 2008, over 260 people were killed in accidents involving big rigs and large trucks.

Trucking accidents implicate an entirely different set of safety rules, laws, and regulations not germane to a routine auto on auto collision. If you’re injured in a trucking accident, you need an experienced truck accident attorney.
