2 more meningitis cases, Marion total now 9
Two more cases of fungal meningitis were reported in Marion County on Friday. That increases the number to nine, including two fatalities. Nationally, health officials say 185 patients have been affected in 12 states. The death toll remained at 14 on Friday. Read more here.

86-year-old Alzheimer’s patient contracts a sexually transmitted disease while in a secure ward of her living facility. The woman’s doctor discovered the disease during a routine examination. An investigation is searching for answers as to how she got the disease and if it was preventable.

The Florida Supreme Court ruled Thursday that funeral directors who organize and lead a funeral procession owe people a safe trip between the chapel and the cemetery. And that will let a 1993 Orlando lawsuit against Union Park Memorial Chapel move forward.
