Additional Florida Meningitis Cases Found By Department of Health
Three additional cases of fungal meningitis have been confirmed by the Florida Department of Health, including a 60 year old man and a 36 year old woman from Escambia County and a 50 year old man in Marion County. A nationwide outbreak of fungal meningitis has been linked to contaminated steroid serum from New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Massachusetts. People seeking pain relief from steroid injections at pain clinics unwittingly exposed themselves to this rare fungal infection and no one can really say how widespread the distribution of these tainted steroids was or how long it will take for each infected person to learn their fate. Three Floridians have died from fungal meningitis.
