Orlando Attorneys Recognized as Florida’s Legal Elite

We’re proud to share that three of our Orlando attorneys have been named “Florida Legal Elite,” by Florida Trend Magazine. Melvin Wright, Nathan Carter, and Fermin Lopez have earned this prestigious title that is given to fewer than 1.3 percent of Florida Bar members actively practicing in the state. Our attorneys continue to show dedication to clients and garner respect within the field and have been recognized as Florida’s Legal Elite for multiple years.

Florida Legal Elite Selection Process

The Florida Legal Elite process began with voting in October 2018 when members of the Florida Bar—who are licensed and actively practicing in the state—were asked to nominate attorneys they believe exhibit a standard of excellence and are held in high regard. Voters chose lawyers in separate categories such as government, non-profit, and personal injury practice areas. The votes were tallied with more weight given to attorneys who garnered votes outside of their law firm. A panel of previous legal elite winners examined those who received the most votes and evaluated their histories, the selection process, and the final list of Florida’s Legal Elite.

Melvin Wright

Melvin Wright is a well-known personal injury lawyer who specializes in wrongful death claims, which can also include auto accidents, workplace injuries, childcare negligence, product liability, and nursing home abuse. He’s reached several six-figure and seven-figure verdicts and settlements, earning him recognition by Top 50 Verdict in Florida in 2017. He’s been named Florida Legal Elite every year since 2009 as well as consecutive recognition from National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Lawyers and Top 100 Litigation Lawyers. He has a Martindale-Hubbell rating of AV Preeminent, which is the highest achievable rating.

Nathan Carter

Civil trial lawyer, Nathan Carter, specializes in nursing home abuse cases, medical negligence, product liability, and other personal injury practice areas. He’s an active member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and has given seminars at AAJ conferences. He was named a member of the “Nation’s Top One Percent” by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel in 2015 and has been recognized for many consecutive years by the National Trial Lawyers Association, Super Lawyers Top Attorneys in Florida as well as Florida Legal Elite. Mr. Carter served several terms on the FJA Board of Directors and Chair of the Nursing Home Task Force of the Florida Justice Association (FJA). 

Fermin Lopez

Fermin Lopez is an accomplished attorney who specializes in nursing home neglect, medical malpractice, product liability, and other areas of personal injury. He’s fluent in Spanish and English and is an adjunct professor at Barry University School of Law. Mr. Lopez has been recognized as one of Florida’s Legal Elite for several consecutive years. He’s been named a “Super Lawyer” and “Super Lawyers Rising Stars” in the State of Florida and is on the Coamed Foundation Board of Directors.
