Fat Loss Supplement Recalled Due To Risk Of Liver Damage
OxyElite Pro, a popular weight and fat loss supplement, marketed as a “pharmacist formulated super thermogenic” fat burning supplement, was recalled in November voluntarily by its maker, USPlabs. But it was not until after USPlabs had received warning letters from the FDA for violation of drug safety laws. The warning letters from the FDA informed USPlabs that OxyElite Pro was deemed adulterated product because it contained “aegeline” a synthetic ingredient thought to be linked to health complications. According to the company’s own voluntary recall public statement, OxyElite Pro was linked by epidemiological studies to acute liver failure and serious liver damage. Some believe the supplement is also linked to serious cardiovascular problems.
